this makes sense
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book has really helped me visualize and understand what is taking place during the golf swing. Laurentino's section, "Factors that Affect Ball Flight Patterns" was truly enlightening. I was able to fully grasp how to move the ball left to right and vice versa. I could take what I learned in the book and try it with my own swing.
I also liked his chapters on the short game and putting. The idea is that you can become a good golfer as long as you can hit the sweet spot and hit the ball along your target line repeatedly. But more importantly, you don't have to have the perfect swing path. Just hit the ball on the sweet spot with the clubface aimed down the target line. What happens before or after impact is not as important as impact.
Laurentino makes it easy for the reader to understand what he is saying. That is much more than I can say for other golf books I have read.

The search is over
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After growing tired of quick fixes, tips from magazines, internet advice and often conflicting instruction, I wanted to find a book or teaching style that would not intend for me to have a major overhaul of my present swing. The search is now officially over. I have read his book and already applied some simple setup changes that have had a dramatic affect on my striking of the golf ball. Mr. Laurentino's book does a superb job of explaining the laws of ball flight and offers ways you can change it for yourself without overdoing the the changing of your own individual way of swinging a golf club. We all have inherent tendencies in our individual golf games that are OK to play with if we want. He calls these things "negotiable". It is a refreshing way of looking at what can be adjusted and what you should strive to accomplish when making any of the changes he recommends. There is a large portion of the book spent on short game play which I feel is a bonus. I highly recommend anyone who is tired of searching for answers and spending exorbitant amounts of time and money to hopefully improve their golf game to read this book.

The Negotiable Golfer makes an Ace
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Negotiable Golf Swing: How to Improve Your Game Without Picture-Perfect Form

As an avid golfer, I recently had the opportunity to read The Negotiable Golf Swing by Joseph Laurentino.

I must say it was one of the most enjoyable instructional books I have read in a long time. I found the book to be extremely organized and simple to follow. As a collector of many golf books, I find most golf instruction books to be very technical and difficult to comprehend. I can honestly say that wasn't the case with The Negotiable Golf Swing. It was an easy read for golfers of all levels.

Mr. Laurentino has simplified his teaching approach, allowing golfers to utilize many of their current techniques, which he categorizes as "negotiable". It's the perfect book for golfers looking to improve their game without becoming too technical in their approach.

I have recommended the book to many of my fellow golfers and believe Mr. Laurentino has aced it with his theory.

The Negotiable Golf Swing
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the Best golf instruction book! The author allows you to be an individual and shows you how to make your swing work. Just the section on chipping is worth the price of the book. It's probably the first book I've read cover to cover in 10 years. I'm reading it again because there is so much good info that I want to get it all. The instruction has taken much of the stress off of my swing and allowed me to really start enjoying golf for the first time in the 40+ years that I've been playing. There is so much good and understandable info that this is a must read if you want to play better.

Excellent book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been playing book for 36 years and have read at least 100 books and magazines articles. Found things in this book that were expressed differently that made the light went go on for several key points. 1. Pivot around the hip sockets. 2. Shoulders are the most important alignment.

The section on ball flight is worth the price of the book, best ever. Peter Jacobs book comes close but you raised the bar.

When is the last time you bought a golf book and the author would answer your email. Joe will and has done that for me.

Does not give quick fixes but will give you a path to work to improve your swing no matter your level of play.

After all the golf swing is always a work in progress.
Negotiable Golf Provides Simple Instruction to Improve Your Game
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am an avid golfer who has read numerous instruction books over the 30 plus years I've been playing the game, some of which helped, many of which didn't. Often these books, including some of the most famous and best selling, like Hogan's Five Fundamentals, were so complicated that I could hardly get through them (those of you who have read this book know what I'm talking about).

I wanted something simple that could help me improve without complexity and that would allow me to work with some of the individual characteristics that were already built into my game. The Negotiable Golf Swing did exactly that.

The author's simplistic approach enabled me to understand the fundamental laws of physics that impact the golf swing, without being overly complicated or boring. Furthermore, as a PGA pro who has worked with hundreds of students, Joe Laurentino understands that a golfer doesn't need to have a picture perfect swing to be successful (look at guys like Palmer, Trevino & Furyk to name just a few). This book's approach is simple: to impart an understanding of how the golf club works at impact (the non-negotiable elements of physics that impact ball flight) and how you can combine that knowledge with your individual swing elements (or negotiable elements) to create a successful swing.

At only $16.50, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a simple approach to improving their game. By teaching me what is "non-negotiable" in the swing and how I can combine that understanding with my individual swing characteristics to improve my game, The Negotiable Golf Swing is among the best instruction books I've read.

The Negoitiable Swing
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Negotiable Swing is, by far, the most straight-forward and informative golf instruction book I've read to date. The concept of "negotiable" vs. "this way is the only way" is long over due, particularly because one size does NOT fit all. The illustrations are top notch. For any golfer (even a lefty like me)who wants to think out of the box, this book is for you. It has been said that "tradition is the enemy of progress." The Negotiable Swing is certainly a break with tradition...in a very positive way.

Great Golf Instruction Book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been playing golf for six years and have taken numerous lessons. Additionally, I have read countless instructional articles in Golf Digest and have had limited success. It always seemed like every time I tried a new move to "correct" my swing, I would improve for a few days and then fall back to my old habits and get very frustrated.

I purchased Joe's book, "The Negotiable Golf Swing" from Amazon about two months ago and read the book from cover to cover, rather than just glancing over the areas I thought would help my golf swing. I am glad that I read the entire book before I decided to try some of his drills and exercises.

After reading the book, I now understand why the golf ball slices, hooks, pulls and pushes. So when I am practicing on the range, I can now take the necessary steps to correct my ball flight, instead of just hitting ball after ball and hoping to correct my problem.

I suffer like most golfers do, with the over the top move, and hitting the ball from outside to in. Joe's simple explanation of how to correct the over the top move has helped me immensely. I am now able to hit the ball from the inside and I am using less effort then before and I am hitting the ball solid.

The book is very well illustrated which has really helped me understand how to correct my swing path and to have me swing from the inside to out instead of outside to in. Once I corrected my swing path, I was able to hit the ball straight and also gain some distance. The illustration and explanation on page 129 is my favorite, it shows you that "from a player's prospective, it appears that it would be impossible to hit a ball if the angles are maintained this late in the downswing. This lag creates clubhead speed and power." This illustration and explanation has helped me convince myself to trust his advice and to maintain the angles and lag.

I would recommend this book to golfers who have become frustrated with their golf swing and have considered quitting the game. Read the book from start to finish and do not jump from chapter to chapter. Also, have an open mind and try his drills and exercises on the range for a month or two. It will be well worth the time and effort you put in at the range, before you try it out on the course.

Thanks Joe for making golf fun again.

Very nice!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been playing golf off and on for over 20 years, and like most of us, I've read countless golf books and magazine tips. Some of the books I've read over the years have been good, but not enough to keep me consistent.

The Negotiable Golf Swing is a refreshing look at golf instruction. I've had this book for over a month now. I read through it fairly quickly the first time, and now I'm on my second reading. After reading it the first time, my iron play improved. All the chapters in this book are excellent and well written, but the chapter that helped me the most so far is chapter 5: Elements of the Right Side. Among other things, the author talks about moving the right shoulder down instead of out. I took this to the range and my iron play improved dramatically. By concentrating on making sure my right shoulder went down instead of out, I started to have a slight draw to my iron shots, whereas before I was hitting pushes and slices. My swing was on plane for once instead of being all over the place!

I can't say enough good things about this book. It is extremely well written, and the author's concepts make a lot of sense! Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
